Brazil's Latin Fusion Art Show & Bella Diva Dance Celebration

Brazil's Latin Fusion Art Show & Bella Diva Dance Celebration

Experience Brazil’s Latin Fusion at Stanley Marketplace this April, with a special celebration of art, music, rhythm and enlightenment. Enjoy a showcase of twenty mixed media paintings, created by Aurora-based artist Jiacuy Roche; the event will also feature vibrant dance performances from Bella Divas Dance.

Words from the artist:

Jiacuy’s artwork illustrates her Brazilian roots with her use of vibrant colors, shapes, and lines that create movement. Jiacuy was born in Salvador De Bahia, Brazil, the bosom land of Afro-Brazilian culture where slaves from the African continent left their soul living legacy in martial arts through Capoeira; Brazil’s national cuisine, Feijoada; and our dance, Samba. Life is vastly different here in the United States. Our Brazilian community of Denver lacks representation. There is lack of education of how our African cultural influences are integrated in art, music, dance, food, and fashion apparel.

As a Brazilian Indian woman, and artist, it is her desire to share our cultural and its global influence. Jiacuy does this through art, with contemporary fine art drawings and paintings representing her heritage. Utilizing paints and textiles, her art is a tool of advocacy. It is a platform to engage and empower other female Brazilian artists of color.

You can view more of Jiacuy’s artworks, custom made apparel, and handmade earrings at her online business, Universal Creative Expressions. www.Universalcreativeexpressions.com

About Bella Divas Dance:

Bella Divas Dance is a Denver-based, culturally authentic world dance company offering Belly Dance, Brazilian Samba, Indian Bollywood, Hot Hula fitness, & AfroCaribe dance styles for kids and adults. Bella Divas Dance strives to bring culturally authentic world dance forms to Denver and provide unique performance opportunities for our students in the form of two yearly Student Showcases held at various venues.

With more than 715 students, Westerly Creek Elementary is one of the largest elementary schools in the DPS. Westerly Creek’s major fundraisers like the spring auction help us strive to be the bridge between district funding and the actual cost of our children’s curriculum. We are all about being active, having fun and giving back to our local community. +10% of your registration dollars go directly to local non-profits!

Registration is limited, so sign up today!

ABOUT THE RUN:
This may be different than other “races” you’ve done. We like to keep things relaxed, and all of our events are untimed so everyone can run or walk at their own pace. Instead of closing down the streets, we ensure a safe and fun running route on sidewalks, through parks, and along trails. The course is staffed with encouraging volunteers to cheer you on and point you back to the brewery for your much-deserved beer!

EVENT DAY DETAILS:
Please arrive 30 minutes before the start to get checked-in.

Bring a valid ID. You do not need to be 21 to enjoy the event, but must be 21 to enjoy the beer. Please drink responsibly! (Registered, underage participants receive a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage).

This is an open course, meaning roads will NOT be closed. You are responsible for obeying all traffic laws and regulations.

We run rain or shine! Dress appropriately for the weather.

There will not be a bag check; please plan accordingly.

Bring extra money if you want to purchase food, more beer, or any of our great Colorado Brewery Running Series merchandise!

Learn more at breweryrunningseries.com/colorado

WHAT'S INCLUDED:
All participants receive a FREE craft brew from the brewery and get to take home a collectors pint glass or seasonal swag item from the Brewery Running Series...plus goodies and giveaways from our partners and sponsors + a chance to win sweet door prizes and more free beer! Your registration also earns you an invitation to stick around and enjoy the day’s entertainment: live music, food offerings, local vendors, and fun with our sponsors.

Colorado Brewery Running Series merchandise, including shirts, hats, stickers, heat press brewery logos, and seasonal items will be available at the event. You can also add on a Brewery Running Series T-shirt for $10 at the time of registration, and pick it up when you check-in on site.

WHAT WE'RE ABOUT:
Our motto = be active, have fun, give back! In addition to pairing some exercise with great craft beer, a portion of all proceeds goes back to local non-profits. We are very proud that the Colorado Brewery Running Series has so far donated over $14,000 to local non-profits! 10% of our proceeds help support our nonprofit partners, which in 2019 will include, The House that Beer Built, Dumb Friends League, and Range of Motion Project.

2019 Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade

Downtown Denver

Primarily running down Blake Street between 17th and 27th (check out website for more details on route) - quick tips from the organizers:

Arrive early to stake out your favorite spot!

  • The best place for families is at the end of the parade on Blake Street from 23rd to 27th avenues.

  • March is known for wildly varying weather.  It might be cold, hot, who knows!  Dress in layers and bring plenty of water.

  • To catch the parade entries full performance (dancing, full music sets, etc.)  the best spot is south of 20th avenue on Blake Street (which will be renamed Tooley Street for the Parade).  This is probably the most crowded area of the parade and is standing room only.  Folks will arrive as early as 6am to stake out a spot.

  • Have fun and enjoy the parade!
